Pediatric Emergency
Registered Nurses

Children's Emergency Department, part of Vidant Health, plans to open in the spring of 2012. We will be the only tertiary facility in eastern North Carolina designed, equipped and staffed with trained emergency pediatric providers and nurses. The services will be provided to infants, toddlers, small children, teens, and young adults with an emphasis on patient-family centered care.

The Children's Emergency Department will be a 16-bed unit that includes two resuscitation bays. Our goal is to meet the needs of the children and their families by providing safe, child-friendly, quality care and incorporating Child Life Specialists. Dr. Dawn Kendrick, a fellowship-trained pediatric emergency physician, will serve as the Children's Emergency Department Director. The physician faculty is affiliated with the Brody School of Medicine and teaches medical students, interns, and resident physicians.
