Clinical Nurse Specialist

Promote quality patient care across the continuum. Assess, plan, and evaluate specialty population needs through communication with various health team members. Manage a caseload of patients. Provide care to selected outpatients as indicated. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service appropriate to the age of the patient. Use teaching/learning theories and principles to foster educational development of patients, families, and staff. Identify disease process and health maintenance educational needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Plan and coordinate for the education of individuals or groups of patients, families and/or communities.

Develop and present educational programs and conferences. Accept responsibility for pre-cepting selected students. Pursue opportunities to practice as adjunct faculty. Provide health care consultation using communication and change theories. Consult with the interdisciplinary health care team in planning individual and population based interventions. Act as a resource in the assessment, development, and implementation of policies and procedures related to area of specialization. Provide information and expertise in area of specialization. MSN and a minimum of five years experience in clinical specialty required. Current NC RN licensure required.
